Air Europa Accelerates Digital Cargo Push with WebCargo Integration

Madrid, Spain – Spanish carrier Air Europa has taken another bold step in its digital transformation journey by integrating its cargo capacity into the WebCargo by Freightos platform, further expanding its reach across Europe and Latin America’s trade lanes.
This strategic move enables freight forwarders to instantly access and book space across Air Europa’s network of 15 domestic Spanish destinations and 40 international routes, particularly strengthening the digital cargo ecosystem along the Spain–Latin America corridor.
A Phased Rollout with Global Reach
The initial rollout of Air Europa’s digital booking capabilities via WebCargo will focus on exports from key Spanish hubs such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia, before expanding to major international markets across Europe, the Americas, and Asia Pacific. Special emphasis will be placed on perishable cargo from Latin America, a region where time-sensitive airfreight is essential.
“Bringing Air Europa onto the WebCargo by Freightos platform marks another important milestone in air cargo’s digital transformation in the Spanish and Latin American markets,” said Wayne Tyndall, SVP Commercial – Forwarders & Airlines at WebCargo.
Advancing Cargo Modernization
The integration underscores Air Europa’s ongoing commitment to modernize its cargo operations through digital innovation. In 2023, the airline partnered with CargoAi, and by 2024, it had added its capacities to cargo.one. Most recently, it deployed SkyPallet, Wiremind Cargo’s ULD optimization tool, signaling its intent to embrace next-gen logistics tools across the board.
“Air Europa is committed to innovation and digital optimization across our operations,” said Jordi Pique, General Cargo Manager at Air Europa. “Joining WebCargo by Freightos is a natural extension of this strategy, allowing us to make our capacity more accessible to freight forwarders while streamlining our booking processes.”
“This partnership enhances our ability to serve the growing cargo demand between Europe and Latin America, providing our customers with the efficiency and transparency that modern supply chains require.”
Boosting Efficiency in Competitive Markets
Spain remains a strategic logistics hub bridging Europe with Latin America and North Africa, and Air Europa’s digital cargo integration could offer a crucial advantage in a highly competitive market. The airline’s expanding digital capabilities aim to meet the rising expectations for speed, transparency, and operational agility from freight forwarders and shippers alike.
The new digital channel not only simplifies access to Air Europa’s capacity but also aligns with broader industry trends pushing for greater automation and real-time connectivity in global airfreight.
As e-commerce and perishables drive cross-continental demand, Air Europa’s WebCargo integration promises to be more than a convenience—it’s an operational necessity for staying competitive in the modern digital cargo era.
