Stord buys Shipwire from CEVA: accelerated consolidation of e-commerce logistics

The fulfillment logistics market continues to restructure at a rapid pace. Stord, a rapidly growing player in e-commerce logistics, announces the acquisition of Shipwire, previously owned by CEVA Logistics. The operation aims at a simple objective: to quickly gain scale, geographical coverage, and technological capabilities in a sector where competition is based on speed of execution, cost control, and software integration.

The merger brings Stord an immediate expansion of its operational setup, with the integration of new fulfillment centers and access to a larger global logistics network. But the most strategic focus is on the digital side: the acquisition also includes technological building blocks related to order optimization and flow management, with an acknowledged ambition to accelerate the use of AI in the orchestration of operations (inventory, allocation, prioritization, multi-channel processing).

In a context where e-commerce growth remains solid but more selective, brands now expect providers capable of offering a consistent experience: visibility, speed, returns, and “last mile” performance without cost explosions. For Stord, the logic is also defensive: consolidation allows for better resistance to pressure on margins and strengthens its attractiveness to mid-market merchants who want standards close to those of retail giants.

The movement confirms a fundamental trend: e-commerce logistics is becoming a game of integrated ecosystems, where value is created as much in warehouses… as in data management.
