ICTSI: Contecon Manzanillo exceeds 12 million TEUs since 2013

On the Pacific coast of Mexico, the subsidiary Contecon Manzanillo — operated by ICTSI — crossed a symbolic bar: more than 12 million TEUs handled since the start of operations in 2013, within the specialized terminal of the Port of Manzanillo. In an environment described as generally “flat” for some ports on the coast, the operator highlights a more dynamic performance in 2025, with a notable increase in import and export volumes.

The main identified driver is the strength of trade with Asia, and in particular the growth of imports from China over several years. The port benefits from a double advantage: being a key first point of call and offering logistical proximity to major production centers.

In parallel, Contecon emphasizes the “capacity” effect: massive investments, zone expansion, increased docks, and the addition of equipment designed to accommodate larger ships. The terminal also highlights an environmental dimension with hybrid equipment and a declared decrease in fuel consumption, as well as continuity on the carbon certification trajectory.
