Air Serbia Joins Freightos Platform, Expanding Digital Air Cargo Access Across Europe

Air Serbia is set to expand its digital cargo capabilities through a new partnership with Freightos, joining the platform’s global air cargo booking ecosystem.
The integration marks a significant step forward in the airline’s digital transformation strategy, enabling forwarders to access Air Serbia’s cargo capacity through e-bookings across both the United States and its European network.
Destinations will extend beyond Belgrade to include regional and niche markets such as Zagreb, Podgorica, Tbilisi, Tirana, Sarajevo and Skopje, among others.
A key component of the partnership is the expansion of Freightos Pay, which facilitates guaranteed digital payments between freight forwarders and airlines. Notably, this system also enables non-IATA accredited forwarders — traditionally excluded from direct airline transactions — to access cargo capacity.
“In air cargo, payments are not just a back-office function; they are a strategic lever,” said Sebastien Podgorski, VP Airline Solutions at Freightos. “Combining booking with guaranteed payments improves cash flow, reduces disputes and broadens market access.”
For Air Serbia, the partnership addresses a longstanding operational challenge: financial uncertainty in transactions.
“The guaranteed payment solution removes a critical barrier,” said Veselin Djordjevic, Head of Cargo at Air Serbia. “It allows us to expand our reach while simplifying operations and reducing administrative workload.”
By streamlining booking and payment processes into a unified digital flow, the integration is expected to enhance efficiency, reduce risk and accelerate adoption of digital air cargo transactions across Europe.
