Morocco Gains New Direct Shipping Line to the UK and Netherlands

Agadir, August 8 — A direct shipping connection has been launched between Morocco and Northern Europe. The new service links the ports of Agadir and Casablanca to Thamesport in the United Kingdom and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The company behind the service is Samskip, a European logistics operator. The objective is to offer Moroccan exporters a faster and more reliable maritime option, especially for perishable goods.
“We believe this route will bring clear advantages to exporters who need consistency and reduced transit time,” a Samskip spokesperson said.
Targeting Fresh Produce Logistics
The new line is primarily designed for refrigerated cargo, including fruit and vegetables. According to Samskip, this route avoids unnecessary stops and limits the risk of temperature variations. This is particularly important for businesses that ship perishable goods on tight schedules.
Before this launch, many exporters had to rely on indirect routes or slower connections. With the new schedule, shipments to Northern Europe can reach destinations more quickly and in better condition.
Environmental Advantage
In addition to speed, the company claims the service is more environmentally efficient. Samskip is using vessels designed to reduce emissions and has equipped its containers to support energy savings during transport.
The launch of this maritime line could improve Morocco’s competitiveness in agricultural exports and strengthen its ties with European buyers.
